Hello everyone and thanks! Been lurking around here for a few days now and gained much from your posts. I promised myself that I would sign up and post today and I have! Good start to the day. I am 53, from Midwest, Christan (Catholic variety) married, father and addicted to PMO. I have been porn free for 26 days. Gave it up for Lent. I have always wanted a deeper spiritual life. I believe P M have blocked that or at the least my classic Catholic guilt has. I am not posting my story yet. I get the sense that there will be much value in that exercise and need to take my time with it. Posted in RN as well not sure where I'll end up. It is all great

Enjoy this wonderful day. We are supposed to see 60 degrees for the first time in 4 months

Welcome WiP, this is a good place to recover. I'm a Christian as well and an important step is to ditch the guilt and forgive yourself; easier said than done.

Read and post often. Best of luck on this journey.

    Hi WIP,
Welcome. Take your time. You have already made a big and very important step. You have realised that you are addicted and have decided to stop the behaviour. You are correct about writing your story but it will come when you are ready or maybe not at all ; as in all things there is no one size fits all and we all are blessed with choice. You will probably be surprised at how similar most stories are especially in the 40+ group. In some ways we have it easier than the very young guys who started their porn with superfast internet and have known only that. Keep coming, reading and posting. Good luck and may God Bless you.

Hey all. Just dropped in to say that I'm still around and doing well. Been hanging out on RN and just started reading Breaking the Cycle. Life is good...getting along really well with SO and staying busy

Welcome to the forum. Keep on reading. When you realise that many other guys have a similar story it seems to go a long way to lessening the burden of guilt. One of the nasty traits of PMO is that everything is so hidden that we tend to feel that we are particularly corrupt and dirty. When you expose your PMO habit to the light of day, you start understanding the underlying causes. You are not evil, just a human that needs and wants a better life.
