Why is it that these websites are around for years, but are never closed down ?

What is the revenue that these guys make ? Does anyone know ?

It was always a mystery to me.

They rely on a very small percentage of people moving onto pay services. Given the amount of people that watch their websites, the percentage only needs to be tiny.

As well as ads. (Affiliate programs) Those are even good to porn industry because they lead to pay for porn sites.

A big chunk of their income comes from ads. Not many people click those ads, but they receive millions of visitors per day and it adds up. They also get revenue from premium memberships (to access HD videos, etc) and get commissions from paysite memberships (on videos that have an affiliate link to the paysite bellow them).

One of the biggest players in the porn industry, Manwin, who owns some of the biggest tube sites (PornHub, YouPorn, Xtube, Tube8, Spankwire, etc) are said to receive around 15 BILLION visitors per month to all their tube sites combined. And that's just one part of their operations.

So, what was your question again?

  5. Probably this sites are to make people impotent an then BUY drugs like Viagra, Cialis and so many products.
I've seen such advertisings on this kinds of sites.

Funny, even the mentions of the old tube names spark some sort of turn on in my mind, I remember being able to get hard just by the thought of porn or knowing I was about to see porn. Those site names, the logos I have in my head, they revolve completely around por so they act like a trigger, it's crazy really, but it's true.

I can definately relate to that. I remember getting hard while just opening the browser if my intention was to watch porn.

To answer OP's question, I think that the answer was already given. They probably make most of their money through ads and when you think about it, you'll notice that almost every (not amateur) porn-movie on those tube sites throw the name of the source in your face. So my guess is that there are still plenty that like to see more of that and are willing to pay for that.

Mainly because of those ads. But i also think they often upload those 5-minute clips themselves to get new costumers.

They aren't shut down because they're not doing anything illegal. Just like youtube. The service is supposed be used by people to upload their sexy videos and people do that. They are in the safe harbor because of DMCA policy.

They make money with premium memberships, webcams, ads.

I get why sites like xhamster stay around since they have a source of revenue but there are so many sites like http://*****.com that put up content and don't seem to have any revenue? What is that about?

I think the porn industry is not worried about copyright infringements. Those sites are the easiest way for taking people to a future porn addiction. If they are having lots and lots of visitors they know this is going to be money now and more money in a future.
