    Re: My Internet Reduction Thread

The solution here is simple, to both PMO and to the internet.

    CUT THE CORD.

I have three sources of internet, gonna eliminate all 3 as best as possible for the next month.

At this point I literally have no use for my phone except the internet. I text my mom and basically nobody else. I also use it to watch porn and waste shitloads of time. Therefore my phone lives in the car, and also will come out for 1st and 2nd periods of school to be charged since I have a plug at my lab desk and need it for Spanish. I will keep the twitter app on my phone, since it won't be used much.

Source 2 is my computer. I want to keep internet available on my PC for use of google drive office and for watching guitar lesson videos. My computer will remain off except for these two things. I'm going to keep a log of internet time spent. I have super strong P filters on this so not worried about porn.

Source 3 is my school iPad. This one is tricky. I also have a beater old laptop I keep at school for an online class. I will have only one of these at any given class. I will take paper notes in the future, and leave the ipad in my bag or my locker if possible. At home, the iPad will live in the kitchen turned off. The laptop usually isn't much of a problem.j

Ok YBR, if all goes to plan I'll see you in a month.

    Re: My Internet Reduction Thread

Had a pretty successful week of no PMO and then the weekend crashed. I'd say a large part of that success came from staying off the web and this website specifically. I blocked the internet on my phone to see if that would help. Next check in will be next monday.

    Re: My Internet Reduction Thread

Today I gave in completely to internet on my iPad at school.

I'm going to talk to a few of my teachers about strictly this internet problem and see if I can get paper copies of stuff in those classes. This is gonna be harder than I thought

Just activated Stay Focusd and Net Nanny for Chrome on my laptop (I can't bring myself to use internet explorer). M-F, 7-5, they block practically all news, social, and fun sites on the web. I left a two hour window at lunch but it only has a 15 minute maximum.

Our new mantra: Cut the cord!

New plan of action- DENY ACCESS

This is gonna mean leaving my iPad in my locker except when ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. This is gonna mean leaving the wifi card for my desktop at school over the weekends. This is gonna mean deleting all the games from my ipad again. This is gonna mean leaving the ipad at school.

I feel serious anxiety when I'm offline, can't even stay off YBR for more than a day or two. Lets fix this

Good work. I find placing my phone far away from me even helps. Net nanny keeps my internet schedule for me too.

I'm replacing porn with masses and masses of internet FUCK

Tomorrow I'm going to be talking to several of my teachers about my internet problem and how to keep me off my iPad.

Not taking it to study hall was awesome, and I felt super mentally clear without it for the rest of the day! I once again deactivated my twitter account, I do this every now and again but I think this time it might stay off.

Never did talk to those teachers lol. Ironically in spanish we read articles in spanish and then write opinion essays on them, our current topic is actually internet addiction! I suck at this, on the underdog challenge I've gone 6/18 days clean before 10 AM! Thats just pathetic!

OK WHAT IM GOING TO DO IS THIS

    It is 1:00 right now
Until 5:00 I'm not gonna use anything involving a screen

I will report back in four hours time exactly

    I only made it 2 1/2 hours! That's pathetic!

I'm going to start updating this page just like my journal to stay on track though

    Ladies and Gentlemen

    THIS IS WAR.

Today I didn't get into my top college choice. It wasn't because I wasn't smart enough, my SAT score was over 2300 I have the raw numbers to go anywhere. I didn't get in because other than swimming, I didn't DO ANYTHING in high school. I didn't get in because I sat on my ass touching my dick and reading random articles on the internet instead of being active in my school and community. According to RescueTime I literally waste 2 hours or more a day ON MY COMPUTER ALONE! Plus I waste HOURS on my ipad at school.

Looking back on my life there are very few times I set out to do something and then ACTUALLY FUCKING DID IT.

    That ends here.

I'm going to quit the internet.

    Here's how:
Twitter: Deleted from my iPad, kept on my phone only. My phone is super old and slow (probably from porn viruses!) and I usually leave it in my locker at school any more.

The Internet: The only acceptable use of the internet is guitar lessons and college stuff. I get a maximum of 3 guitar videos per day, unless I FULLY COMPLETE two of three I don't get any more. I get a MAXIMUM of 30 minutes doing college related searches.

I also get 10 MINUTES per day on YBR. I don't find this place to be helpful in dealing with in the moment urges so that is not an excuse to waste more time. I only get to click the Updated Topics button twice when I visit and all the time must be spent in one visit. I update here, update journal, quickly browse, GTFO.

Gaming: I get a MAXIMUM of 1 hour of gaming per day. I WILL NOT use game related forums or youtube videos. This is for pure gaming. Gaming is only allowed AFTER EVERYTHING I need to do for the week is 100% completed.

The game Rocksmith is an exception, it is allowed without limit after all homework due for the next day is done. Also NO GAMING WILL TAKE PLACE PAST 10:30, in fact all screens shut off at 10:30 PM from now on NO EXCEPTIONS EVER.

TV: I don't watch TV ever, so its really no big deal. I will not start watching TV to compensate.

Music: I don't intend on quitting music, I love music. I will be moderating. On long drives to swim practice I have been favoring absolute silence or singing with the radio off solo. I've been using Piano radio on Pandora to focus and it rocks! I need to cut out some of the more extreme metal as I don't see it as being healthy except while working out.

If I really can't kick it the $10 might be worth it to be honest.

So far I've done what I set out to 100%. I got so much done today its insane!

This sounds really useful, and it would certainly free up time as well, I think I'll try to go for 2 hours maximum 'internet time' per day as well. It'll be interesting to track, that's for sure

Haven't done so hot with the challenge, really starting to stress about college decision time and spending a lot of time online reading about it.

I started a thread about quitting clash of clans about two weeks ago and have had a lot of success with that specific problem since! The only problem? Since I quit I've played through 2 Mass Effects again on PC and I find myself wasting hours a day on it. I switched over addictions notihng more.

It is now 10:00 Thursday morning, until 10 next Thursday I am turning my PC off and removing all games.

I'll report back on this thread then. Hopefully I make it!

That failed so badly its not even funny. New tactic:

    1. Only Keep stuff open on PC that I'm currently using
    2. Avoid SUDs (seemingly unimportant decisions) aka checking twitter/email/ybr/play a quick game etc
