Moderators, please don't move this thread. It has been moved many times to wrong categories before being brought back here by the admins.
Topics of this sub-forum include: Potential benefits, tips, advice, peer support, etc.
So this is the right sub-forum.

"NoFap is like trying to quit smoking but you always have a packet of cigarettes in your pocket."

Some of us have risked breaking their streaks and even relapsed while testing the blockers. So if you know better ways to block porn, please, let us know.
Why should you be using porn blockers?
Because it’s really hard to quit porn when it’s just a click away.

There will be times when willpower will fail you. Say for example, you were very tired or had poor sleep one day.

What if you were having a bad day and you're thinking that watching porn might be a good idea?

We know very little about willpower. But we now know that the prefrontal cortex of the brain is primarily responsible for willpower.

So what damages your prefrontal cortex?

    1-Not getting enough sleep.
    2-Chronic stress
    3-Masturbating to porn.(Most importantly)

That’s why when you relapse once, it becomes easier to relapse again and it becomes much harder to control yourself as you have temporarily damaged your prefrontal cortex. You have probably read this on YBOP, that masturbating to porn decreases the grey matter in your prefrontal cortex. Grey matter represents the cell bodies in the brain. So porn literally kills your prefrontal cortex where your willpower lives.

What happens when your prefrontal cortex is fucked up? This gets us to an important function of the prefrontal cortex: Concentration, that's why you get the worst brain fog ever when you relapse.

(Other diseases of the prefrontal cortex: Attention deficiency (ADHD) & Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder(OCD). )

When you start watching porn notice how your heart rate goes crazy. It will remain high for a few minutes but will eventually fall back to normal. I’m one of the people who believe that the heart is the center of emotion and not the brain. Maybe the brain is involved but the heart is the master of your emotions.

What does that have to do with anything?

That rush your heart gets when you watch porn, numbs your heart, it makes it insensitive to other emotions.

A family member may die, and you won’t feel shit, you will try as hard as you can to cry, but you just can’t feel anymore, your heart is dead.

Things that used to get you excited in the past, like hanging out with friends can’t get you excited now. At this point, only porn can.

But not even “average porn” can get you excited now, the old porn doesn’t make your heart go as crazy as before, you have to watch novel and weird porn to get the same effect.

We need to stay away from this drug as much as we can. If all what a porn blocker can do is to increase the number of clicks between you and watching porn, so why not give it a try? Why not give your willpower an aid?

Porn filters are there to stop you when you are thinking you can’t take it anymore, it can stop you when you’re about to do something you’ll regret.

DO NOT use porn filters as a crutch, they are just there to help you when you’re weak.

If you depend on them too much, you will always end up finding a way around and watching porn.

Porn blockers should buy you time, allow you to use your will power in achieving more important goals and provide accountability(if possible).

    Saving your passwords
The best method is the last.

1-You could let a friend or a family member to directly enter the passwords and it's very important to tell them to save it somewhere, for example, using the "Note" app on their phone.

2-Another option is to type a random password in notepad e.g. lsfdjaljfalsjfaljf8y7ysfy7

then copy that password and paste it in the application you want to lock like forticlient for example, then paste it again in a message to your friend, then finally delete that message on your end so only your friend could see it.

    3-Use lockbox.pluckeye.net
Enter a random password in notepad: jasfjdhashf87ahfa8f78a7fhas

Then copy this shit and paste it in the application you want to lock e.g. Forticlient.

Paste the password again in lockbox.pluckeye.net

    Screnshot:https://ibb.co/X3TBCtv

Why I think this is the best way?

because people, I mean kids, could trick their friends and tell them that they need the password urgently while they only want to watch porn. But here, you will have no choice but to wait.

    Tips from pros
    1-Telegram:

    A) Telegram contains some NSFW content. If you want to filter those and have a whatsapp-like experience on Telegram use Cloudveil messenger:

    https://www.cloudveil.org/cloudveil-messenger/

    Thanks @skaterdrew for sharing this!

    B) Teleteens: (Android and iOS)
It lets you allow your safe groups and channels and block the rest. You could lock its settings using self-lock or by adding a parent (supervisor).
    https://teleteens.co/

C)TelOchat: Another safe telegram client with all bad channels and groups blocked automatically. If you want to allow a group or a channel, you could request it.
    Only Android:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.telochat

D)If Cloudveil desktop version is still allowing bad content, you could remove it and use Telegram Web version (https://web.telegram.org/) and filter it using pluckeye or cold turkey:

    USING COLD TURKEY:

You will notice in Telegram web that each chat has its own unique URL, so you could just allow images and videos on safe chats that you want:
Say for example that the following URL is for a safe chat:
    https://web.telegram.org/#/im?p=g488858590

so you add to Cold Turkey exceptions:
    web.telegram.org*g488858590*

Repeat this with chats that you need

Now, you need to add any of the safe chats that you have allowed to your bookmarks (ctrl+d), use this bookmark to access telegram as the next rule will block access to telegram web home page. You don't need to bookmark all safe chats, only one is needed.

Now add the following to your blocked sites:
    web.telegram.org/

    2-Activtrak:
    https://activtrak.com/
This one is an accountability software that allows adding up to 3 devices for free. If you visit bad sites, it will send notifications to your friend/wife phone showing them what you have visited. It will make you think twice before trying to open porn.

This one is different because most accountability softwares are not free.

credits: @Mostly harmless for researching and sharing it.

    3-Media domains of famous sites:
If you want to block images and videos on reddit, then block those:
    a.thumbs.redditmedia.com
    b.thumbs.redditmedia.com
    external-preview.redd.it
    i.redd.it
    preview.redd.it
    styles.redditmedia.com
    www.redditmedia.com
    v.redd.it
    redgifs.com

If you want to block images & videos on twitter block those:
    pbs.twimg.com
    video.twimg.com

If you want to block images and videos on discord, then block those:

    images-ext-1.discordapp.net
    images-ext-2.discordapp.net
    media.discordapp.net

if you want even stricter filtering, also block this one as it will block profile pictures:
    cdn.discordapp.com

    PornReboot - YouTube
    (a tip from @Mostly harmless )

    Windows
    *Recommended applications:
Forticlient 6.0: has a huge database of bad sites, system-wide blocker.
Fapsecure: Enforces Cleanbrowsing DNS and more.
Cold Turkey: Blocks URLs using keywords.

1-Forticlient 6.0 (better than the discontinued k9 web protection)

I'll try to add a guide for version 7.0 soon
-It may not work well with some anti-viruses as:

1- Eset antivirus --> All Web pages will not load, or will load very slowly.
    ..........

    Why FortiClient?

FortiClient has one of the LARGEST website categorization database. You will never find a porn site or a proxy site that’s not blocked by FortiClient.

Also, it filters all apps including emulators like Bluestacks and Android Studio.
It works well when you're connected to a VPN and all bad sites will remain blocked.
It cannot be removed without its password

The biggest downside with forticlient is that it causes problems with youtube and we will have to edit its settings to fix it.

    Must see before you Install:
    https://pasteboard.co/JEtl4Ci.png

    Official download link for v6.0.x:
    https://filestore.fortinet.com/forticlient/downloads/FortiClientOnlineInstaller_6.0.exe

(IMPORTANT)Fixing youtube issues (comments not loading/restricted mode) + locking forticlient with a password :
    https://www.facebook.com/Safer-Web-219130142871044/photos/pcb.340820417368682/340820100702047/

Allowing or blocking certain sites/site categories and viewing FortiClient's history of blocked sites (for troubleshooting):https://ibb.co/23XkRZk

Check out Cold Turkey (below). I have added a configuration that blocks the known ways to bypass forticlient.
If you find any way to bypass Forticlient, let me know, so I could fix it.

2-Pluckeye (customize it to block only porn sites):
This is one of the essential blockers. Do not skip it.
    https://forum.nofap.com/index.php?threads/pluckeye.300403/

    3-Fapsecure
    (down for maintenance)
Can only be removed using its password or you will have to wait for 4 hours.

Uses DNSCrypt to enforce a filtered DNS server that blocks all bad sites on all browser. By default, Cleanbrowsing Family will be used.

If you want to use another server, you'll have to edit dnscrypt-proxy.toml file using notepad. It is located in "C:\Program Files\Mydns".
    You'll find this line:
    server_names = ['cleanbrowsing-family']
Fapsecure uses this public DNS servers list:
    https://github.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-resolvers/blob/master/v3/public-resolvers.md
Now, if you want to use another DNS server, you need to get its name.
The server names are the headings which are in bold. Let's say you want to use cloudflare family DNS. Look for cloudflare famliy DNS in the link above.
    cloudflare-family
Cloudflare DNS (anycast) with malware protection and parental control - aka 1.1.1.3 / 1.0.0.3

The server name is called cloudflare-family
So edit the dnscrypt-proxy.toml file and replace cleanbrowsing-family with cloudflare-family
    server_names = ['cloudflare-family']

You can't change the DNS server if fapsecure was executed. You need to stop it first by running fapsecure-stop from the start menu, hten run it again to update your DNS settings.

Once you run fapsecure, it will generate a file called fapsecurepw.txt in your C: drive. It contains the password to remove fapsecure. Copy that password and paste it on lockbox.pluckeye.net by creating a new box. Don't forget to change the delay to a few hours (or more). Once you're sure that everything is working fine delete the password from the file fapsecurepw.txt.
To uninstall, open Fapsecure-stop from start menu and paste the password using the right mouse click OR ctrl+v THEN press enter. If you lost the password, just enter 3 wrong passwords and fapsecure will be stopped after a delay of 4 hours.

    -Features of Fapsecure:
*Enforces safe search on Google, Bing, Yandex.
*Blocks other search engines like duckduckgo.
*Blocks VPN/proxy extensions from the chrome store (They will never connect)

    *Fapsecure
*Changes your device's DNS to Cleanbrowsing family over DNSCrypt. More info here: (In short, Cleanbrowsing family blocks porn sites, proxies, VPNs, mixed sites, enforces safe search where possible and blocks unsafe search engines.)
*If DNSCrypt fails, Neustar family DNS will be used over IPv4 adn IPv6.

If you want to disable images on reddit, twitter or enable youtube restricted mode check out the cloaking_rules.txt in MyDNS folder. To block sites or keywords add them to blocked_names.txt (keyword blocking supported, but filters only words in domains and not the rest of the URLs)

    DNS changes will affect:
*All of your interfaces interfaces (Wifi and Ethernet).
    *Both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols.
But won't affect your home network, of course.

    Download:
    Fixing bugs.

An alternative DNS enforcer is ForceDNS, but it doesn’t use DNSCrypt.

Fapsecure was tested on windows 8.1 and windows 10 with no problems.
Windows 8, Windows 7 and vista need to install this windows update first:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=54616

    -----
If you get a missing .dll file error when running Fapsecure, this means you need to install Visual C++ redistributable x86 (size 13 MBs):
    https://aka.ms/vs/16/release/vc_redist.x86.exe
    ----
special thanks to @Infidel.48 for his support and ideas to improve fapsecure.

    5-K22 Process blocker
    (Shared by @Infidel.48
    An excellent free app blocker.
    Features:
    -Can block any process/exe/task
    -Can block by window names
    Video tutorial:

    Download page:
    scroll down to "Process Blocker"
    https://www.haascomputers.com/our_software
The antivirus will block it but it's totally safe.

It's recommended that you lock it using anvi and also check out how to protect services.
    6-Cold Turkey:

Has the advantage of being able to block URLs using keywords.

    Cold Turkey:
    https://getcoldturkey.com/

    Screenshot on how to use:
    https://pasteboard.co/JMg1XPP.png

Screenshot on how to prevent easy bypass:
    https://ibb.co/Ks9SMjj
Leave Block Date&Language off as it will cause high CPU usage.

    Import this list:
    https://www.mediafire.com/file/i2fsvs8z6eqmbjp/Block+Lists+from+Sinner's+MacBook+Air.ctbbl/file
It contains lists for windows and macOS. The ones we need are:
Bad Sites: Blocks porn, proxies using keywords and a lot more.
Regedit/Gpedit/Secpol/FileSec: Blocks access to Regedit, Gpedit, Secpol, File Security options and methods to bypass some blockers.
Cold turkey will block unsafe browsers that could be used to access porn.

You could edit the list as you wish.

The best way to lock Cold Turkey Free version:
This requires basic understanding of locking Cold Turkey using the command line (cmd.exe/command prompt).
    Example:
    "C:\Program Files\Cold Turkey\Cold Turkey Blocker.exe" -start "Bad Sites" -lock 1080
This will lock a block named Bad Sites for 1080 minutes (18 hours).

Task scheduler could be used to execute and repeat the commands we want automatically.

    1-Download this xml file:
    https://www.mediafire.com/file/bkdi4vulw7msmnx/ColdTurkey.xml/file

2-From start menu, open Task Scheduler.
3-Right click "Task Scheduler Library" > Import task>Select the file you just downloaded (ColdTurkey.xml).

In the "Actions" tab, you'll find to entries to lock "Bad Sites" and "Regedit/Gpedit/Secpol/FileSec" for 18 hours. Double click any of them to learn the correct format. You could modify them or remove what you don't need. You could add more Cold Turkey blocks by clicking on "New..."

In the "Triggers" tab, you'll see that Task scheduler will execute the commands once your computer starts and every one hour. Click OK. It will start automatically in the first minute of every hour (12:00, 1:00, etc) or if you restart your PC, but you could also start it manually by right clicking ColdTurkey in Task Scheduler>run.

This is the basis of delayed gratification, if you want to unlock a block, say for example, "Bad Sites", just go to the actions tab and edit the command, change "Bad Sites" to anything like "Bad Sites1" >OK>OK. After 18 hours, the block will be unlocked. If you want to lock it again. Change "Bad Sites1" to "Bad Sites".

    Bonus:
to block the google images search add this:
    *tbm=isch*
to block the google videos search add this:
    *tbm=vid*

Filterlock (optional): Do not use this shit
    Disables system restore.
Disables Fresh start in Windows Defender
    Disables Windows 10 reset.

    Download:
    http://www.mediafire.com/file/86j200vq16ivpgc/Filterlock0.2.rar/file

    5-Qustodio:
I had to mention qustodio because it's worth trying and you can install it together with any other filter but never use it alone.

    Features:

    *Blocks porn & proxies
*Forces safe Google, youtube (moderate restrictions), bing, duckduckgo, etc.
    https://www.qustodio.com/en/family/downloads/

You might want to sign up for an account using your friends email. After you login on the qustodio app on all of your devices. Ask your friend to change the qustodio account password.

    Protecting files and folders
    -Anvi Folder Locker
    Hides files and folders
-Easy File Locker (V2.0 is the best for win10)
Completely locks files and folders from being modified. Can prevent app settings from being updated.

    -Protecting services:
To protect a windows service from being stopped, modified or deleted; you could do this:
1-Run cmd as administrator then use the following command. Replace servicename with the name of the service you want to protect:
    SC Failure servicename actions= restart/1/restart/1/restart/1/restart/1// reset= 0

Now, even if you terminate the exe of that service, it will auto restart immediately.

2-Change the service permissions using Service Security Editor:
    https://www.coretechnologies.com/products/ServiceSecurityEditor/
Use this app to deny stop, modify and delete permissions of the service.

-Encrypting your Hard drive (optional): For the tech savvy. From @Infidel.48
This will protect your files and settings from being modified using bootable operating systems.

    Download:
    https://www.veracrypt.fr/en/Downloads.html

    Disable safe mode (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
We will have to edit the registry.
    https://www.raymond.cc/blog/disable-f8-key-to-block-access-to-safe-mode-during-windows-startup/2/

^Open the link and scroll down till you get to this part:

“Editing The Windows Vista, 7 And 8 Registry”,

Edit the registry and rename "Network" (and “Minimal” if you want).

Finally, you need block access to regedit using k22 process blocker or CTB.

    Android (Still updating)

    iOS (iPhone/iPad)
ُThere are a few ways to block porn on your iPhone:

    1-Built-in iOS web filter.
    2-Safari Content Blockers.
    3-Proxies.
    4-Safe browsers.
Update: Entering Supervised mode allows you to do much more like enforcing a DNS, disable Find My app:https://forum.nofap.com/index.php?t...rvised-mode-without-wiping-your-phone.305431/
The first 3 are system-wide which means they filter all applications.

It's recommended that you do the following steps in order:

1-SPIN browser: The top rated safe browser on the app store

This one is a quality porn blocker and has a HUGE categorization database . I tried to find any way to access porn on this browser but I found none that's because they regularly fix backdoors.

    Download:
    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spin-safe-browser/id1069119528

After you've downloaded it, you need to uninstall other browsers on your device leaving only Safari.

Actually, Safari is not the last browser left. There is Webview which is the in-app browser that opens up when you click links inside some apps. It's the same as Safari but with less features. You can't disable Webview but you can use those 2 apps (both of them are needed): (credits to @Dobrethatface @Mostly harmless)
    Image Blocking
    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/image-blocking/id1042605950
    Image Blocker
    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/image-blocker-browse-the-web-faster-leaner-and-safer/id1031388281

After downloading the 2 apps, go to: iPhone "Settings" > Safari > Content blocker and enable it.

This app is going to block all images and videos on Webview and on Safari.

Right now, you only have two browsers: SPIN and Safari but no images will load on Safari. I personally didn't disable Safari because I use it to open reddit and other potentially unsafe sites which are completely blocked by SPIN.

To prevent turning Content blockers off, we'll need to enable "limit adult content" in iOS Screen time (will be discussed later on)
    3-Using Profiles
This Profile will enforce safe search and block bad sites that could be missed by the iOS built-in porn blocker and SPIN. It works for iOS 14+ devices only. It also blocks instagram, tiktok, tumblr, pinterest, snapchat, unsafe search engines ,and images and videos on reddit and twitter. It needs to be downloaded from Safari browser or you could send it to yourself as an attachment in an email and open it from the Mail app. You could also airdrop it to your iPhone from a mac.
    https://www.mediafire.com/file/c3ku1ewr3cdhlrk/safesurfer.mobileconfig/file
You could do a lot more with profiles, if you're on supervised mode.

Screen Time (Thanks, @BeingBett3r for your tips!)
There are two ways to set up Screen Time:
    A) Remote method, where a friend can change your restrictions from his phone, by linking your Apple ID to his through Family Sharing.
    B) PIN method, your friend will have to enter a PIN on your phone and change your settings every time you need to do it.

For the remote method, you will have to change your Apple ID age to 14 years old, this will allow you to set someone else as your parent. Then you will have to turn off screen time from Settings>Screen Time, if you have it on. That's because people could use Family Sharing to bypass Screen Time settings that's already in place.

(more to be added on how to set up the remote method)

Either way, we'll have to do the following changes:
*Limit adult content: This is the built-in iOS porn blocker. It
Filters all apps, can block custom domains and locks Safari Content Blockers. However, it's not 100% accurate and you can't completely depend on it.
*Disable installing apps. You could set apps to 12+ instead, when you do that many apps like Telegram will be disabled. If you want filtered Telegram clients try: Teleteens or Cloudveil messenger. Those are rated 4+.
(You'll have to enable installing apps periodically to update your apps.)
    *Disable uninstalling apps.

*Ensure that everything content wise is set to Clean setting: Movies, TV shows, Book Store, Podcasts, Video)

For iOS 13 and above, you will be asked to enter an Apple ID when setting up Screen Time from settings. Do not use your Apple ID or you'll be able to reset the Screen Time passcode.
You could let a friend enter his Apple ID or create a new one here: https://appleid.apple.com/account.
Use Temp mail to sign up:https://temp-mail.org
It will ask for a phone number, so use Textcaller app for this.
Use a random password and save the Apple ID and the password on lockbox.pluckeye.net

    Setting up Screen Time:
    iOS 12+: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmGv7pSR

    iOS 11 and below: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmGv5xDq

    Extra:
A)Disabling and locking Find my iPhone through screen time:
1-From Settings, turn location services for "Find My" off
1-From settings ,click on your apple ID (the first item in settings).
2-Turn "Find My" off. (In older iOS versions: Click on icloud -->find my iphone then turn it off.)
3-Go to Screen Time>Content &privacy restrictins>Location Services. Change "Find My iPhone" to Never then click on "Don't allow changes" in Location Services.

B)Prevent using Recovery mode: (credits to @Dobrethatface
Block the following processes using Pluckeye and/or Cold Turkey.
    itunes.exe
    applemobiledeviceprocess.exe
    applemobiledevicehelper.exe

instagram pintrest snapchat tiktok tumblr, images on reddit and twitter.
    4-DNSCloak
This a DNS changer for iOS but can't be enforced.

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/dnscloak-secure-dns-client/id1452162351

Even though the SPIN, the content blockers together with the iOS porn blocker will block ALL of porn sites (as they filter using keywords) and enforce Safe search, I really recommend using DNSCloak as it's one the best filters on the App store and it will perfect this method. DNSCloak is also important if you want to customize the filtering on your iPhone if you're using a DNS filter on your router.

Open DNSCloak and type in the search: safesurfer
Select "safesurfer" and select "Use this server"

Click the button on the top left for DNSCloak settings and make sure "On demand" is ON.

Now click back then click the button on the top right corner and let your friend set a passcode for DNSCloak.

    Router
1- Call your ISP and ask them to filter your home internet from porn sites. You could do the same for your mobile data ISP.

2- Force Cleanbrowsing DNS on your router

Step by step screenshot tutorial: https://www.flickr.com/photos/183874060@N08/albums/72157710640348857/with/48655167306/

    Stage One:
Login to your router by visiting 192.168.1.1 in your web browser.

    Username: admin
    Password: admin

If incorrect look at the back of your router or google your router’s model.

In the router’s page, look for:
    Primary DNS server
    Secondary DNS server

(Routers are different, so DNS options could be anywhere, keep looking)

Change the primary DNS server to 185.228.168.168
and change the secondary to 185.228.169.168

    Then save.

(PS You could use whatever DNS you like. The DNS above is Cleanbrowsing family DNS. I prefer it because it forces safe search on Google and other search engines, also youtube. You can report sites that should be blocked to this email: support@cleanbrowsing.org , and they will be blocked within 24 hours.)

    Stage two:

Now all devices connected to your router will have filtered internet. But anyone could bypass the filter by changing the DNS on his device. To solve this problem we will create some simple rules on our router to block other DNS servers.

Go to IP filter and add those rules: (you can modify them according to your preferred DNS server)

N.B If your router doesn’t support blocking IP ranges, It won’t work.

    Stage three:
Put a few drops of Superglue on the router’s RESET button while it’s still on. (to avoid gluing the fan!)

Change the router login password. (A family member should do this or a friend using Teamviewer for example).

    Tips from @gabriel_sw1

These are the programs I used to block on the Chromebook:
    Appblock by Mobilesoft
DNSChanger set in DNS Clean Browsing Family Filter
Google Family Link (the most important of all in my opinion)
And I HIGHLY recommend that you try to install TestDPC on your Chromebook. I was trying to download but I had to sell my chromebook.

The Chromebook has loopholes like Guest Browsing, Factory Reset, Sites that the DNS does not block, etc. Google Family Link blocks things like Guest Browsing and websites that you want. I recommend that you follow the Sinner guide to get started, as I also suggest that you have a chat process with someone you trust and can help you set up Google Family Link

Appblock is used to block "Settings", "Dnschanger" etc.
It must be blocked by a pin that a trusted person sets for you.

I already explained Dnschanger, activate the always-on vpn option in the mobile settings and configure the app.

I haven't tested it, but I'm 80% sure that TestDPC also works on the Chromebook, and you must have the app to block Factory Reset, things like that. If you are going to download TestDPC do not forget to release the developer mode of the Chromebook and access the USB Debugging.

Thanks for posting, man. I hope many follow your advice. Disabling all incognito windows was a huge turning point for me. I needed to do that to overcome the "muscle memory" response of opening browsers to look for P. Gave me time to think about it and make better decisions. Thumbs up

    Thanks mate. Glad it helped.
When I get some free time, I'll try to add more good apps for android and PC. I've been really busy + lazy lately.

    Awesome streak btw!
