This is so strange...

I have tried many times to have sex with a real person since giving up PMO. It never seems to work. The penis doesn't get hard and penetrative sex just never happens. But the strange part is that I have these wickedly erotic dreams, usually a replay of some of my old favorite porn and I wake up having cum all over the bed and with this rock hard erection. But it only happens at night when I sleep. I just can't figure out how to move it to waking times with another person. Weird don't you think?

Could be a sign your brain is healing. Starting to associate erections with people in dreams. Then erections with real people will follow. Be patient. Your penile function will return. In the meantime you might explore non-penetrative sex.

Maybe you didn't get my post. I have non-penetrative sex with other people because when we get down to it that is all I can do. The issue I was trying to point out with the dreams is that they are all reruns in my mind of porn I have watched in the past. I wasn't a porn watcher where I watch new porn all the time. I had about 10 of my favorite porn films and watched them over and over so I have them very well memorized. That is what the dreams always are and never about people I know. It has been more than a year and half since I have had PMO so it am a bit concerned that I have somehow gotten stuck at this point in my recovery.

Ah gotcha. However, having dreams about porn is a part of the rebooting process. It means your brain is healing and healing those porn-addictive pathways. The length of time you have these dreams usually correlate to the severeness of your addiction. How long have you had them? I would try to be patient and just let them run their course.

I have been having them for the better part of 3 months now. What do you think that says?

Hard to say it could either be that you were really addicted or that your brain just has a lot of porn pathways to rewire for some reason. Either way I wouldn't worry about them. They are part of your brain's healing process.

My question is really that I feel like I am cheating when I have those dreams. They are so real and complete that it is like I am watching porn again. I don't know how to stop them. They almost always end in huge orgasms. Which further makes them feel like I have broken my healing.
