The Orgasm Reboot: A New Approach [CONTROVERSIAL]

Just wanted to say a big thank you for taking the time to make the original post of this thread. You clearly put a lot of thought and effort into it, and I don't think it could be made any clearer. It has become my rebooting bible ;D

I think I get too boggled up in everything like many of us here and forget the main point of rebooting. What is that 90 days supposed to do?

Moreover, after those 90 days or 120 days, if you feel like you can watch porn once a week, is it alright to do so? What about our friends who do watch porn like that, once a week or even less?

It's good that you get bored by it and it's nowhere near as bad as PM. But it may trigger you later... plus even though you might have felt bored, you probably got your boner from the porn even if you maintained it with normal fantasy.
  4. Do you actually know guys who watch it in moderation? (and do you believe them?) 8)

I don't know if I believe them or not, but I used to be one. From ages 13-16 I fapped heavily, about twice a day every day. From 16-20 I fapped once a week, sometimes a couple weeks.

    I'm wondering this as well...

    see my thread:;topicseen

Isn't it possible to have a normal sex life and watch pornography once in a while?(once a month per say?)

I have friends who do this and they are not lying...

It's also possible for most people to have a few drinks and stop. We are here for a reason, we are addicts.

I know that I don't belong to those people who can control them.

Meh, we all have our weaknesses
  9. I would readily accept there may be people who use porn in moderation.... However

I personally don't think that's a justification to use, as there are also some highly addictive illicit drugs that don't always mange to hook people. I think the risk is just too high, with either, especially if you have already exhibited a weakness for that particular substance/activity.

You guys are absolutely right. Cut porn completely (Cold Turkey). And masturbation/edging will take care itselves.

I was tempted to see porn 2 days ago. Guess what ? i was looking at it again yesterday. Then i want to look at it again right now.
It's true. That's how porn works IMHO. It will crawl into your life little by little, gradually making its damage unnoticable. Until you suffer from it.

I wasn't looking at porn about 2 weeks ago. I've made 7 days without seeing porn. On that days, my urge to masturbate were not that strong. It's hard to masturbate without porn. Although i can get aroused easily, but i can't maintain it. Since no porn to excite me. And then i was like, "Why i am doing this ? There is other useful better meaningful things i can do right now than jacking off". And then, i stopped masturbating. I was just feel bore doing it...

Well, there you go. My experience. Just cut porn completely, then masturbation/edging will automatically diminish gradually.

I'm keeping MO out of the table because I had very poor results with it.

MOing would put me in flatline that would drag for about three days.

Just thought I would mention for anyone who is doubting the notion that masturbation will eventually lead to porn, I recommend you take a gander at my most recent journal entry. If you're too lazy to read my massively long essays, I shall paraphrase the process for you...because I too have adopted this "orgasm reboot" approach, and while it does work up to a certain degree, at some point it stops working (simply because of the nature of the behaviors in question). You're basically trying to control compulsive works up to a certain degree...but the key word here is compulsive. Meaning at some point, you do lose control.

To paraphrase what happened to me over the last week:

I have a big test coming up this week, and I was procrastinating work for a while. So here is what happened when I finally decided to sit down and study for the big test. I started to study on Wednesday, that is where the fun began. I realized that I don't understand much of the material in the course, which causes a fair amount of stress. So I decide to push away the studying for a day, I figured that I still had time to study and one day would be no big deal. I spend the rest of the day engaging in 40 minute hot showers, watching tv, taking naps, all that good stuff. Then comes thursday. I take a look at the course work on thursday, realize that I'm one day closer to the exam and I still don't understand a there is a bit more stress. I end up engaging in all of the activities that I mentioned above, plus masturbation. Then comes friday. I realize that now I'm getting really close to the test date, and I still can't understand a single I spend the entire day masturbating, watching movies, sleeping, binge eating, and taking several 40 min long hot showers. On friday, I started to get bad cravings for porn. So I figured, it would be safer for me to masturbate instead of watching porn.

Can you guys see a pattern here? Guess what happens on saturday? Thats right. Full blown PMO, twice, in addition to all the other forms of evasive activities that I engaged in during the week. And you wanna know if I was capable of stopping myself from watching porn on saturday? The cravings were so massive that I had completely lost control of my entire body. My hand would not even touch my junk unless there was nudity on my screen. Can you say..."compulsive behavior"?

So, while I do believe that masturbation is the lesser evil here...if you don't fix the underlying problem, it will quickly escalate out of your control. The underlying problem in this particular example being the gradual increase of stress and therefore a gradual increase in cravings to escape the stress (which is a contradiction in and of can't escape away from most problems...they just grow bigger while you stick your head in the sand...leading to more compulsive behaviors).

My two cents on the matter.

I understand. I was like that. Using porn/masturbation to relieve stress. The sheer oxytocyn hormon that flows after orgasm is the reason.

I have been having success with this approach. This is my first reboot, gave up porn cold turkey 27 days ago. Mo'd on the 5th day. Mo'd again 11 days later, so twice in 27 days. Would be 0 times if I were not single right now.

The key is to MO as little as possible, and only when it will assure you will avoid a porn relapse. I have absolute confidence I am done with porn for good, and am willing to MO once or twice a month MAX until I am in a relationship again.

The very rare M is completely detached from porn and even fantasizing. Sensation only and of course no death grip or any grip to speak of allowed.

After I MO'ed the first time on my previous reboot it became much harder to avoid it. Cravings for porn increased as well and those brief flatlines that followed the MO gave me an absolute emotional hell.

I agree no MO is the best practice, and will lead to the quickest recovery. However, I would rather be imperfect on the MO than relapse on the P. I suppose there are several approaches that will all lead to recovery. I just know porn is not an option...ever again.

That's good, it's way too early for you to MO.

Even if I MO more than twice in the 24 hour period, I can still abstain for days, even weeks, and I'm getting to the point where I can abstain for months. That's really when I recover the quickest.

How so? Judging from your journal you seem the happiest and the most enlightened after you MO. It isn't uncommon, I've seen it from other journals as well, it's just that people don't catch it.

For me I'm by far happier overall, more confident, more driven, more energized after I MO and the following couple of days. Everything after that is downhill, confidence goes down, energy goes down, and it just gets worse and worse.

I mentioned this in my journal a few days back, but I think it could be due to the production of semen. Your body quickly starts to produce semen after you ejaculate. The rate at which it produces is obviously highest in the early times, and it quickly slows down. 8 hours after MO your body will be producing semen at a very high rate; if you haven't MOed in 8 days, your body obviously has GREATLY decreased the production of semen since so much is stored. I think the process of when it is being produced is when it's most beneficial, that's when the body uses it for good purposes.

I too have noticed that I often feel great for one or two days after MO/PMO, only to crash on day 3. From there, it's a slow climb back up. Some things improve a lot as the days pass, such as my social anxiety, while other things probably don't reach the same level as the high immediately after MO/PMO, well not yet for me anyway.
