I read a while back that sugar has huge effects on the brain especially in large amounts. It also releases lots of dopamine. Since I am rebooting and changing my lifestyle around I figured that I would drop eating sweets as well (I ate ALOT per day). Now the only sugar I have is if it's from a fruit. Do any of you think that too much sugar has an effect on the PIED we face?

    Nope. here's a few reasons why -

    1) The nerve cells in the reward center (nucleus accumbens) that assist in sexual excitement and cravings, are mostly separate from the nerve cells activated for sugar.

    2) The nerve cells in the hypothalamus that control male sexual behavior and erections are separate from the hypothalamic nerve cells that control food intake

    3) Last week researchers discovered that animals have a circuit for compulsive sugar intake that is separate from regular food intake circuits - and of course separate from sex. See - Separate neural circuits control cravings vs. healthy eating, researchers find (2015) -

    4) the cues and triggers stored in your brain for porn use are separate from food.

That said, sugar does overlap a bit with other natural rewards, and over consumption may increase cravings in some people.
