Ok guys and girls. The infamous, religious weirdo, Jesus freak, Bible thumper is back.

Well I'm not really a weirdo but all of YBR's lovely atheists love to make fun of me and call me names while offering absolutely nothing of substance to this forum.

But I actually have something to offer the people of this community today.

And that is that I have decided to officially endorse the "No Arousal" Method.

    Link to method here:

I am going to go out on a limb and make a bold claim.

    And that claim is...

The epiphany I had is that this method is fully inline with Biblical Teaching~!!!

That should be amazing news and give people hope because if it's in line with the word of God then it's going to work! That is if you follow it!

I am not claiming this method will give you happiness and purpose in life as their is no substitute for a relationship with God but this method should at least enable you to break the addiction of pornography.

Here are some crystal clear Biblical verses that supports this method:

Jesus said: You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matt. 5:27)

    James 1:14-15
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

What is the The "No Arousal" Method about?

It's essentially about not lusting. Because once you have lusted in your mind over a person or image then it's going to make you act out in the body!

Notice the method's title is "Body AND Mind". What it is saying is to control your body you must first control your mind. This is in line with the Bible...

The beginning of loss of control which leads to PMO is when you let yourself have lustful thoughts and when you secretly feed your lusts for years, there is an increasing unconscious temptation growing on the inside that can lead you to go one step further and physically act on your lust.

That's all I got to say... Hope it helps someone.

Bump: This is the only "method" that works.

I think it's cool we have a forum with philosophical diversity of thought. No need for us to agree on everything.

But if you want this thread to stay visible, don't ask for artificial help (pinning). Just keep it alive with real content.

In the spirit of this thread, in terms of practical methodology:

1 Corinthians 6:18: Flee fornication. Every sin that a man does is outside the body; but he that commits fornication sins against his own body.

When you're in temptation, remove yourself -- flee! -- from the situation as soon as possible. (For the sake of your physical health, at least.)

The root of the PMO problem is, I agree, arousal. But these feelings/thoughts aren't totally under our control. Watching porn, I'd say, means voluntarily giving up control. We want it to be a temporary indulgence, but the ill effects persist long after we stop viewing the images. The longer-term reduction of self-control is a hidden cost. Recovery means (re)building self-mastery.

Paul has lots to say about self-control.
