As I am incredibly addicted to my smartphone I have decided on a new regime...

On Friday (when I get paid) I will buy a Nokia 3310 and use that out of the house. I will only be allowed to use my smartphone in the house and at the gym (for music).

All I see are young people hopelessly dependent on their smartphone. In order to become better, you must sacrifice what others' won't

What do you guys think? A brave, good idea or too extreme? Are you addicted to your smartphone too?

I am also addicted to my smartphone and to the Internet. Buying an old phone is a good start but you need to be cognitive about how to delete the Internet from your life.

    Changing phones is great.

Having scheduled times to look at your phone is even better.

I check my phone after my morning routine, after lunch and before my night routine.

Other times, its on silent and not in the same room as me.

You are on to a positive game changer. One thing I would add is that :
    you wrote about the phone,
    about what kind you use,
about strategies to not use it.

What there seems to be ZERO mention of in these posts:

What you want to be doing with your life - notice I typed : What you want to be doing with your life - not what you want to STOP.

Outline a positive thing, goal something that you love and want to pursue. Then Right down 10ways that you can acheive that ... You'll probably find it easier to NOT fritter away the smart phone time when you are forgetting about it more and more each day.. as you pursue something that feeds your soul.

You can just download the K9 app on your phone. It lets you block websites. Also, if you use iPhone, there should be a restrictions option in the settings. You can get someone else to setup a password for you.
