Hey everyone, it has been under discussion for some time as to whether or not we could have a section for rebooters willing to meet up in real life. It is nice to have support here, but being able to talk to actual people in real life increases accountability, and is not as detached as a simple post on a journal.

For some, talking to a therapist they don't feel they can relate to, or communicating with anonymity whether here or elsewhere, may not be enough, as these things don't have the deeper more personalized feel of a person that really knows you and can relate to you. If this sounds like you, this may be something that could help you.

It has helped me and a few others.

If anyone is interested, simply post your location and you will be put on the list.

For example, my information would look like this (JP91, Massachusetts, USA).

Once the info is posted, anyone willing to meet in a nearby location can PM a member on this list.

Don't worry, this section is off limits to non-members on the forum.

    Thanks for participating.

I don't know about meeting up in real life...there is sex anonymous for that. But I could use a hotline that I could call if I'm in a bad way and need support.

If that is your opinion that is fine. However, this form of communication has helped me and others greatly.

I am sure 99% of the people on here know about SA, it is their choice to post here and volunteer for this.

    Live and let live.

Maybe in the future when we can get enough people we could have a 12-step group for porn addiction?

off course this would have the under the guidance of professionals

SA? I'm sorry, but I sure as heck wouldn't ever want to attend an SA meeting. I can't stand listening to what they talk about. I went once and I remember hearing extreme stuff. No thanks.

Professionals? Because they got some degree in College? Most of them don't know jack. They have no problems encouraging people to PMO. Then they also psych people on drugs, and then those people go on shooting sprees. Snap out of the system. Your government doesn't care about you, and the "Professionals" are just as flawed as their teachers.

Maybe learn how to read for starters.

A professional with experience in dealing with addictions should run that stuff. Who else would do it? Support from people on this forum is great, but they are no professionals. They don't read scientific articles about dealing with addictions, or they don't have experience dealing with addictions in general (outside of porn).

Off course simply having a college degree doesn't mean that you're immediately qualified for this.

But we're getting ahead off ourselves here, a meetup would be a great step in the right direction. A 12 step group might work, but it's not a necessity.

Guys, please don't derail the thread with a debate about addiction, treatments, whatever. That's not what it's intended for. Either participate in the meetup listing or don't.

It what help keeps me young.

I don't want to meet some guy who's gone x amount of days without pmo, and no human contact, then suddenly view me as a release for all that pent up sexual frustration.

You got to laugh, because if we're being honest in the back of our minds we know there is a danger/risk to meeting strangers online, we just prefer not to say it.

True, online dating falls under the same category. That's why I would always meet in busy public places and never take them home on the first date.
