A heads up. Opening on Thursday, the new movie, Men, Women & Children tackles the effects of the Internet on its characters. We first heard that it would contain a young man with PIED (maybe others?), in an Interview with Rob Weiss, who pre-screened the movie. Some of the reviews have confirmed this.

Reviews have generally panned the movie. Some view it as being over the top, nothing more than a "moral panic".

Judging from the brilliant review Gary included in the first link, this movie seems to be a much more intriguing and dramatic take on the issue compared to Don Jon, although I enjoyed that film as well.

Wonderful. The sooner that the general public know about PIED and the other side effects of pornography, the better.

Don Jon was terrible. Yes JGL went on a 'journey'. However, the journey didn't really require much effort. He just switched from P to Julianne Moore.. and bingo, everything was great.. he was authentic. I would have really appreciated it, if they'd showed that P was addictive (and not a lifestyle choice).. and that even if someone mentally changes.. it takes a lot of time for the physiology to catch up.
I hope this adam sandler movie is a bit more honest.

I'm definitely going to check this out, I have yet to watch Don Jon because apart from the porn aspect it hasn't appealed to me. It just seems an excuse to pander to a certain demographic under the guise of a moral message. Throw in some comedy, a pinch of softcore pornography and a dash of Scarlette Johanneson and people will watch it.

This however appears to be an objective look at what the Internet is doing to our social structure, a subject I have been invested in for some time now.

Plus it'll be good to see Mr Sandler in a serious role (and pull it off, ostensibly)
