  1. Thanks digitalzone. That's what I'm thinking: being in college will actually reduce my desire to PMO. I'm planning on going all freshmen year without it! Good luck to you, my friend.

Hey IS, great routine on taking in Scripture every day. I usually read the daily mass readings. If you can imagine, being away from parents, friends, and community can lead a college student into depravity (many PMO addictions solidify in college). It's easy to be lazy and give into vice with little responsibilities. However, college can be an incredibly enriching time. Get involved early with positive and religious groups.

College will be a time where you form into the person you will be for the rest of your life! Don't waste it, enjoy it!

Freisein, can we get our Proverbs 27:17 Bible verse at the top of our thread?

    Drive on guys!

  3. Hey totallyyours, thanks for that encouragement! I am already looking for churches out there where I'm headed so I can get involved early. I plan to make the most out of college and waste no time! Well, this is my last night at home. I won't have my computer for about a week but I'll get back to you guys soon ;D

As you can tell from my counter, I've had a few scrapes lately. I went to confession last week and the priest called me to the words of Christ: "lead us not into temptation." He said the grace of God is the only sure thing that can keep us to falling into temptations. So, once again, i unite myself the Sacred Heart of Jesus in prayer and turn to him throughout the day to lead my life and help me to do His will, not mine.

    Keep walking guys.

    Freisein,
Should we put "inactive" next to names that haven't posted in say 3 weeks or more since the rules are for once a week. The purpose would be to comply with post requirements but also encourage new members that may post more frequently.

I totally agree with you and I thank you for saying that about uniting with the Sacred Heart of Jesus. And yes,, my wife has told me that God does not give us more temptation than we can handle. That we can always ask for his grace. I know some say that it is not cheating when you're married, but according to our religion, we believe that it does as the bible says ' if you look upon a woman with lust in your eyes, in your heart you've already committed adultery. And my priest said the same thing. And it's hurtful to my wife and is the reason why i'm addicted in the first place. I go to confession and communion as often as I can, but I'm going to take your advice and ask God for grace at those times. It was nice to read your letter to know that i'm not alone. I hope that you have a nice weekend. Thanks again. Mark.

I hit Confession Saturday afternoon for the first time since just before Easter. It was my first one since my final Big Binge back in early July. It's good to be back in the groove.

I've been looking for good sources on ascetical practices. So far I've just found Evagrius Ponticus and the desert fathers. Any other suggestions?

totally fine to just listen if you prefer - though when you join the call it will notify us and i will welcome you just to be polite. you are free to just say your alias at that time.

whether you say so or not, the format is such that whenever the floor is opened to anyone who wants to talk, and you will never be called on directly.

Good to know. These groups sound great and remind me of the recommendations from Feed the Right Wolf and 12 step programs. Thanks for putting it together!

Getting close to busting and extending my streak limit! I've been stuck at 11 days forever but I'm moving from 11 days to All the days. This week as been good and busy for no PMO but not as productive as I'd like. This weekend will be great since we're taking a small trip and I have some good things planned to do around the house. It's always nice being with family.

Thanks for your support. Prayers for you guys.

  15. Alright guys, update from college as a freshman: things are going good. It's actually been easier to abstain from PMO, so my streak is going well. I feel as if this is my new lifestyle, free of porn and masturbation. I have realized in the past that the rules set about by God are the right ones to follow. Sometimes they don't seem to make sense, but then you see that by following them, life is better. Just remember, we're doing whole NPMO thing for God, which means that he'll be more than happy to help us out if we ask for it. Good luck everybody! I hope life is peaceful for you all.

Are you doing anything interesting outside of classes? Have you found the church? I hope they have meaningful student activities. Don't do everything but enough to keep you out of trouble!

Alright, I beat my streak! Now it's time to pour jet fuel on this fire: I went to Mass yesterday and received communion, going to confession next week (forgot about Labor Day), reading again, and I'm on my personal schedule. Life is good. It s amazing what not eating garbage can do for you.

I also occasionally checkout this new site Chastity Project. Here's a post from their blog:
    http://chastityproject.com/2013/04/how-to-fight-porn-addiction-like-saint-augustine/

Almost forgot, got extreme with my laptop and blocked all social media including this site, news, and YouTube M-F, 7-5. I'm easily addicted to the internet so this is helps me control it and stay on task (especially since it seems I have ADHD!).

Praying for you guys as we enter fall. Give yourselves to others today; we might not have tomorrow!

    Ran out of gas!

Failed today due to some pictures on threads and blogs (filter didn't get it). I shouldn't have been surfing the web anyways.

On a high note, 13 days is my new high streak on YBR. Productivity remarkably increased and concentration improved. You hear it all the time but it was nice to experience it personally.

Now I have to detox a bit and get back on schedule. Thanks for your support, I'll be back. Praying for you all.

    You guys out there?

Went to confession yesterday and now I feel refocused, calm, and collected.

  19. Good to hear that you're back on track totallyyours. I myself am getting back on track: I discovered this church group that meets every Tuesday night on my college campus. They seem geared toward Christian college students, and they offer small groups for further discussion of topics pertaining to us. They have one for Purity in Relationships coming up, which I think would be perfect, considering NPMO. I'll let you all know how it goes, but that's not for another week.

Hope you all are doing well, and I hope you're all continuing on this journey of self-improvement for God!

Small groups sound good. One with all guys would be good, but I've been a part of a Catholic one with girls and it was good, too. More difficult to relate to women who are less visually and physically stimulated than men. I think they got all guys groups together after I graduated!
