    I know porn is harmful to your dopamine receptors. However, is masturbation a couple times weekly that bad? Thanks

    No, it's not as bad. It might slow recovery, or it might help prevent relapse. Try it and see, that's the only way to know. Different things will work for different guys. So we all need to experiment.

    From personal experience, yes it is bad. Its wiring you away from real people. I actually started masturbating to fantasies long before I used porn. Stopped when high speed interent porn became readily available. But I can tell you I was as addicted to masturbating to fantasies as I was to porn later in life. Everybody is different, of course, and some people may be able to do it safely. I have a very vivid and active imagination, so it is very bad for me. Personally, I was not able to make any serious progress on my reboot until I learned to stop fantasizing. It awoke too many urges, and that always led to porn in the end.

    That being said, everyone is different and you will have to find out what works for you.

    When people have sex they're almost always fantasizing to some degree. I mean I've had sex that is purely focused on the physical sensations, but generally there is almost always a psychological element to it. By having some fantasies/kinks you can make sex much more interesting, and many women have all sorts of fantasies when it comes to sex as it's a much more psychological than physical experience for them. I think if you masturbate to real life sexual acts (or potentially real life acts) rather than innately non-sexual fetishes/fantasies, you'll just make sex even more enjoyable since you'll have a fantasy that is actually based on something you could do with a sexual partner.

    I don't think many people masturbate without using some kind of imagination to accompany it, I mean that's fucking boring with out it. And the same goes for sex, adding a psychological element to sex (such as light bondage etc) makes it far more exciting than approaching it as a purely technical, physical act.

    My experience is when rebooting if you start going back to masturbation sooner or later end up going back to porn. With that said masturbation without porn is much better than with porn cause you dont focus only in the visual aspect of it but the feel of your touch so its not as dessensitive(sorry im not english) as POM.
    Regarding masturbation the general consensus and my own experience is that the ideal is once a week. That way you got your blood flowing in there and it doesnt swrink but once a week alows your body to replace the minerals an dhormones involved in ejaculation. I dont think 2 or 3 times gives enough rest to your hormonal glands and penis tissues.
    It is said in hindu tradition that a large amount of blood is needed to create a rop of semen. overmasturbation leads to dry skin cause the body lacks minerals.
    My advice if you are going to masturbate is do it completely relaxed,focus on your touch and even turn of the light and do it in the dark so you dont get aroused by looking at yourself and develpe/recover sensitivity. At once a week I noticedd better EQ. Im exhausted after years and years of POM so the good part is a little rest makes wonders. My problem is soon as I reover some EQ I go back to porn for a few days and Im back to ground zero with ED

    I think we all have to set our own rules and expectations.

    Personally, for me, it's No P, No M, No O. If I do any of those it's a reset.

    Think about what you're trying to accomplish, stay strong, and keep going!

    I guess the reason why you masturbate may be important. Are you actually answering your sex drive or are you trying to cope with stress or need for porn?

    I agree with 57yrold. For me one leads to another. Also, the body needs a break after MO'ing for so long. Sperm consists of 40 to 60% cerebro-spinal fluid, that should tell you something. When you don't O the body just reabsorbs the hormones, etc. Interesting subject.

    I can masturbate to just sensation alone. I don’t know how I’m able to do it but I’ve tried it and it works. Go figure.

    I can understand doing a 90 day streak of no P no O no M to speed up the recovery from porn but then what? Let's say you hit a 90 day streak of no P or M or O. Do you just never orgasm again for the rest of your life?

    Right now (this may change to become more strict) I allow masturbation (no fantasy! no porn!) on the 1st and 15th of the month. No death grip. Very light touch only. And no fantasies!
