I have caught myself ogling women, I want to stop

That's it really. I don't honestly know if this is due to my history of using porn but I suspect it is.

When out in public, I especially look at body parts which are the focus of my fetishes in the porn I use.

To have reached this point is pretty awful, but I hope I can at least use the self-awareness to help in my recovery.

Nothing to add, but I'm in the same boat. My ogling increases when I stop using porn though, so not sure what to do.

diagnosis is the biggest key, and you've got it. You're seeing the connection between the porn consumption and the oogling. A non-porn addict tends to see beauty in a whole woman, while the porn addict zooms right into whatever is most interesting to them. A non porn addict sees a person (albeit very beautiful and arousing person), while the porn addict sees a mash up of various body parts. That is a very, very broad generalization, but rebooting does move you from one end to another.

Seeing the body parts is getting your porn brain going, but if you don't satisfy it by going and checking your favorite sites, it will gradually fade. Some of my most intense reboot moments were white knuckling mere feet away from women with certain amazing fetish attributes that would've been incredible if I'd found them on a website, even more so in person. It was rough, but the times I didn't satisfy it by staring and then going home and "working it out", I suspect really helped me rewire.

Thanks for your insight, I appreciate knowing that others go through it also, maybe can find an angle on the addiction and a way of recovering also. I totally get the difference between how a non porn addict sees the whole person and the addict sees body parts. Reminded me of years gone by and how my perceptions have altered.

It takes conscious effort to not ogle women. There's nothing wrong with appreciating her beauty, but when you stare more than once that's where the danger comes in. You can train yourself to look at their eyes rather than body parts.

It can be trained away, just like how you can build a habit of NOT watching porn and living life. When it happens, try to redirect your gaze and thoughts to what you should be thinking about!
