I found an easier way to enjoy the cold shower. I used to step into the cold water slowly. Sticking just my head in first, then my arms, then legs, and finally my torso. Here is a trick I recently discovered to make this more pleasant:

Take your cold shower at nights after dinner when you have a full stomach.

I did that yesterday and the full stomach definitely helped. It didn't feel as cold and I felt better about just stepping into the cold water directly. So I highly recommend that you don't take your cold shower right when you wake up on an empty stomach. Take your cold shower only after doing sports or exercise or after eating. Try it! It does make a difference. You'll feel better and won't give up on the cold shower easily.

i remember folks saying that ending cold is good for closing the pores.

I am going to try this first . I do it sometimes anyway - not cold but more lukewarm so i'll notch it down a couple of notches. i liked the word beast used above. it sparks some memories of having felt that way in cold water...

  6. Pores do not close. I made a lot of research on cold showers, and experts say pores can't close or open, since they are not muscles.

  7. New method, because right after I wake up in the morning, cold showers feel lethal (meaning, it takes a lot of time to get used to it). So instead of starting immediately on cold, I start on hot, then for the last few minutes of my shower I turn it all the way to cold. It only feels uncomfortable for a few seconds, then it's all good.

I am following the 30 Days of Discipline program from boldanddetermined.com.
For the last 2 weeks I have been taking cold showers (except when I feel weak or tired). It's amazing! I will keep doing this.
Not a drop of hot water. I turn on only the cold water knob. Starting hot is for pussies.

Just tried it today. Not really cold though, around 20°C I think.
First obvious benefit : it saves money (I'm used to 10+ minutes of warm ass 40°C showers).
I also felt better about myself and motivated for the day.

I have been cold showering now for over a year (no soap).

Two showers daily approximately three minutes in length.

I only shower my body and leave the hair alone.

My skin is great, I rarely feel cold in the winter. Invigorating to the mind and body.

When I was my hair, I do a James Bond shower, hot for 2 minutes and then cold.

I suggest washing without soap or shower gel. I have not used any for a year now.

I use a 48 hour odourless deodorant. I use aftershave.

I feel really clean and there is no body odor. Stickiness is sometimes caused by the deodorant, then I hot/cold shower. I also wear natural fibres, such as cotton.

I am showering twice daily, sometimes three /four times if I exercise or go to the gym.

I wash my hands with soap before eating and after the using the toilet.

My skin is very fresh and clean.

I think cold showers should be MUST for everyone who is struggling with PMO. Been having cold showers for around 3 weeks now. Usually I am showering 2 times a day, 5 minutes each with coldest water. Sometimes if i feel down or having low energy, I basically feel that i need a shower. It helps a lot to cope with stress. In the beginning I could not last for 1 minute,it was unbearable, took around 1 week to accomplish 5 minutes. Sometimes i even take 7-8 minutes because it feels nice in the end.

    Fappers_united Not today.

I have been thinking a bit. I live close to some really clean and nice water, why the f*ck haven't i been bathing in it every day in the summer time?

This summer i'm gonna bathe there instead of showering, and it sure is cold as ice early and late in the summer, just gonna wait for some better weather...

    Stopper,

Thanks for starting this thread, for the information, and for sharing your experience. This post (above) really made me laugh! I'll try these cold showers for a month.

I have been taking cold showers (almost) exclusively for the last 2,5 months. I am used to it now and I love it. I feel like a hero every time I get out of the shower. It is very relaxing. Hot water is not pleasant for me anymore.

Exactly! After 2 days of cold showers, my skin already feels better. Less dry and trying to work my way up to 5 minutes. The first seconds you may grasp for air, but the quicker you can breathe normally the easier it gets. :)

Doing No PMO, a 6 week 100 push ups challenge and taking cold showers.

It's -20 C (-4 F for you american friends) in Canada and I've been doing the Cold Shower thing recently. It feels like a jolt I've never experienced. The cold water is really damn cold and when I first jump in, I tend to hyperventilate so my first focus is to control breathing. I then shout and yell and scream because it really freaking hurts. I've only lasted 2 or 3 minutes at a time but I feel the benefit already. The feeling afterward is definitely euphoric. Kinda like the tingly feeling after orgasm.

I take cold shower/bath by two years,it's work.
I like also the shock cold shower after the sauna, for the skin is the best.I made 2 round (sauna-shower,sauna shower) and my skin is really clean.
I'm not a pussy,I like to be clean and health using the less soap I can.
