Hey guys is there anyway by which I can block porn and adult content on my smartphone without using any evident apps or browsers. I am using open dns but it is hardly helpful and still can access certain images.

Hi spoiler! But that will be only for the internet provided by your service provider right? One can easily use wifi instead.

I am not very much aware of it. Will speak to my service provider tom thanks :)

I was previously planning to root my phone which will allow me to block certain websites and also delete inbuilt apps.

No kidding. I've thought about going back to the old style. The obvious barrier being that you would have to explain to people what the deal with your old phone is. I've got a solution that seems to work for me, though.

I use Safebrowser for internet browsing on my phone and use AppLock to lock down any apps that could potentially be dangerous (including chrome and firefox so it forces the use of Safebrowser). Safebrowser is horribly slow, but does a decent job at blocking adult content. There have been some moments of weakness that I've been able to find adult material to edge to. Whether that ends up in PMO or not, I make a note of the inappropriate website and add it to the blacklist later (when I have the admin password).

AppLock is awesome and one useful thing I've found is that you can setup multiple profiles and activate different profiles at different times of the day. So most of the day I have a stricter rule-set. For 1.5 hours each evening I have it more lax so that I can check Facebook, use Safebrowser, or whatever. I am pretty sure that AppLock will let you go into a mode that is more discrete about its operation, but I can't look right now since I keep the admin password at work.

I have tried an app lock application before. I wrote the password on a paper and used to keep that paper in a place I cannot access easily.

But soon I think by typing the password many times, my mind memorized it!! So it didn't help later on.

Yes that will be the best option. But sometimes you need your smart phone for work and we cannot ignore the usefulness of various applications.

Right now I am trying to use host files to block certain websites. Lets hope it works or else will try something else
