    Hello!

I'm new here, but I thought I'd start out by describing the success I've had up until now.

I've been through this journey for around 5 years now, only recently having consistent success up until now. Prior to this attempt of 150+ days, I previously could only get to 2 months before falling apart and falling back to my old habits.

What changed was that I started meditating.

The funny thing is that I learnt more within 5 minutes of meditating than I did in the entire past 5 years, in terms of understanding exactly what I needed in order to overcome my porn addiction. It's like, within that moment, it all made sense and yeah, I've been entirely porn, masturbation and orgasm free since.

No just off porn, but effortlessly off porn. I don't think about it. I don't struggle with it. It's like this aspect of my life that is completely in my past, and has no relation to who I am today.

Essentially, I believe it comes down to developing control over your mind and your emotions. If you can secure that, you can essentially overcome anything.

So I'm happy to be here, in particular to help new users struggling with their porn addiction. It's not easy, but it's certainly worth it in the end.

More than happy to offer advice to anyone, or even serve as an accountability partner if you require someone to help keep you in check :)

I'm glad that you have found something that works for you. I have been meditating more or less on a daily basis for 6 years now. In my recovery, I can't say that it has allowed for the control of thoughts and emotions that you have described. I always get intrigued when people write in those terms with respect to meditation, because I find that it is impossible to control thoughts, only be aware of them and shift your attention elsewhere. From that point of view, meditation has for me been a central tool in my recovery box. However, if a sexually charged thought enters my head with enough of a punch, meditation isn't always sufficient for me to avoid acting out. I have to use other techniques in order to safeguard my sobriety.

Massive congratulations though on getting over 150 days no PMO. I hope that you continue to have success. Thank you for sharing your story :)
